Reminder: Shadow deadline today!
Today is the last day to apply as a vendor for the summer Shadow Art Fair, which happens July 19 in Ypsi. If you’ve never been before, this is an awesome event open to more than just crafters — artists and DIYers of all stripes are invited to apply. Washtenaw residents also have until June […]

Getting crafty in St. Paul — and Minneapolis
I traveled to St. Paul a few weekends back to take part in the St. Paul Craftstravaganza. Although the weather wasn’t the best (it was snowing and freezing, yuck!), I still managed to have a good time. Some of my favorite items included felt pins from Pink Sparrow, Wellie shirts from Charlie and Sarah and letterpress […]

Stephanie’s favorite eco-DIY links
Happy Earth Day!
In the spirit, why not learn to Sew Green or start Crafting a Green World?
If you’re more of a foodie, Slow Food Detroit supports local agriculture, the Detroit Evolution Laboratory offers classes on vegan and organic cooking and Ypsi’s Growing Hope is a model garden project in Washtenaw County.
On the transportation front, I definitely wish more people in the Motor City […]

Sublime Stitching offers new blanks
Some very nice color action happening over at Sublime Stitching! I’ve always appreciated Jenny’s fantabulous patterns, but the fact her site offers great things to stitch ON… now that is nice! Make sure to check out the textile section. There are all sorts of great new colors for towels happening over there.

IndiePublic up for sale
Well, here’s something interesting. Crafting social networking site IndiePublic is up for sale… You’re always reading NY Times reports of how much Facebook, MySpace, etc. go for, but this is the first time I’ve come across a niche social networking site hitting the auction block. They’re looking for a buyer, but I’m not sure what […]

New Craft debate
There is an interesting debate about traditional vs. new craft surfacing within the DIY craft community. It was sparked by this post by Annie of Imogene. Annie writes about her recent experience at the “D.I.Y., Websites and Energy: The New Alternative Craft” presentation at the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) conference. Some of the […]
