Announcing “a bag: a dress” @ DUCF 2008

Adrienne of Sliptease Vintage is bringing a really awesome competition to this year’s DUCF. Fashion designers take note “a bag: a dress” is for you!

Here’s how it works: Each contestant gets a brown paper bag full of stuff (“some normal sewing stuff mixed with some maybe not so normal sewing stuff”). Everything in the bag should be used to construct a dress. The dresses will then be judged and finalists displayed at the 2008 Detroit Urban Craft Fair on Nov. 15 at The Fillmore. The winner will be announced during DUCF. Among a stylish bag of prizes,* the winner will also be interviewed on the Handmade Detroit web site and the entire event will be covered on Cement.

Deadline to turn in your dress is Oct. 15. It’s free to enter, but we ask that only serious applicants request a bag. For more info, check out www.myspace.com/abagadress or e-mail adrienne {at!} slipteasevintage [dot!] com.

EDIT 2/6: Forgot to mention, there is also a $5 suggested donation.

* Stay tuned for more info on prizes!
