Looking Back at… Shadow Art Fair!

Thanks to everyone who came out last Saturday (yes, it’s been a week already!) to the 2007 summer Shadow Art Fair. It was packed, we were covered in sweat, and we probably had too many glasses of wine, but it was a blast.

Handmade Detroit’s table had the pleasure of enjoying sandwiches with Rainy Prints, and setting up shop close to Talking Squid, Television Farm, Paper Figure Action Man, Daisy Sewing, Lekkner, Ghostly International and more. We even got to hang out with new crafty buddy/Craft Congress attendee Emily Kircher of EKRA.

This summer’s event was 12 hours! I wasn’t sure if I’d make it by the end of the night, but I actually found myself oddly productive- I managed to finish an entire sampler (created with Sublime Stitching designs!) for my soon-to-be born no-name quasi nephew. Quite the title, huh? Even when selling at fairs, it’s possible to be crafty! (Fair tip: It’s a great idea to bring a project to work on during slower times. HOWEVER, make sure you keep making eye contact with your shoppers! They’re much more inclined to stop if you say hello and engage with them. And working on something like an embroidery project is MUCH BETTER than reading a magazine the whole time!)

Make sure to check out this Flickr set of nuthin’ but Shadow photos. And as always, if you stopped by, tell us what you thought!
